Christmas Event 2019

This past Saturday, we celebrated the end of the school year and Christmas with all of our sponsored families. Almost sixty families attended and we had a beautiful day! Here are some of the highlights of the day:

  • Recognizing 14 students for “Academic Excellence” who had an overall average of 90% or higher throughout the year

  • Hearing a message from local Pastor Rina who encouraged families to point their kids toward Christ, set good examples in their homes, and not hinder them in their Christian walks.

  • Celebrating our five new graduates and hearing them each share their powerful testimonies of how God provided and cared for them during their journey through school, even though they each faced some very difficult moments. My favorite part was hearing them give all the glory back to God and challenging their peers not to give up!

  • Sharing a meal of traditional Christmas nacatamales together, a meal prepared by 8-10 mothers who volunteered their time and energy to prepare and serve everything

  • Blessing each family with a heavy bag of food staples to bless them through the holiday season

Lastly, we took a few moments in prayer for one graduate who was unable to attend due to serious health issues, and a time of remembrance for Andrea, who would have been graduating this year as well but she was tragically killed in a gang dispute a few months ago.

Thanks for all the way you support these families and the special days we plan with them!
