New Connections

As an organization , we deeply love the communities where we work, and it has been wonderful for us to see other local Hondurans become introduced to this neighborhood and immediately feel led to help as well! Our most recent connection is with a local university, UTH, who after coming with us to visit the neighborhood and our classes one day, wanted to get more involved in blessing the community. For their first project, they committed to providing food bags for each and every mother invited to our Mother’s Day celebration - almost 70 moms!

The students personally went shopping for the moms, packaged it all up and some even attended the Mother’s Day event to gift the donation in person. When I received the donation from the students the day before the event, I passed along our thanks as an organization for this huge blessing, but the students expressed they were the grateful ones - grateful for the connection to this ministry and the opportunity to serve and bless others. Let me assure you, Honduras is full of kind and generous people who want to bless those in need. But due to how separate the classes can be here, and how dangerous neighborhoods like Los Pinos prevent outsiders from coming in, many times they simply don’t know how or have the connection to help.

Pure joy can be seen on the faces of both moms and students, experiencing the joy of both giving and receiving, and I’m confident this was an experience that will mark these students moving forward. We are thankful for this new connection, excited about how we can continue to offer these college students missions experience here in their own country, and super grateful for their commitment to support this event, as well as others, in the coming years as well.
